Herrera No Nearer Signing New United Deal Claim

Herrera No Nearer Signing New United Deal Claim

The future of Manchester United`s Spanish midfielder has made the press again this morning.

Herrera, 29-years-of-age, is at the point in his contract where he is in the last year, meaning, if he so wishes, he can talk to other interested parties in the New Year.

However, it has been implied that Herrera is keen to remain at Old Trafford with Manchester United having the option to extend his deal by a further year.

Our friends at the The Telegraph, are pointing out that the club has hoped to tie Herrera to a long-term deal by now.

It seems, according to our source, talks about securing the former Atletico Bilbao player to a long-term deal, started last November and continued during the summer, but without there being a successful conclusion.

If a new long-term deal cannot be agreed then, as we mentioned earlier in the article, Manchester United will enforce the one-year extension option whilst talks continue.

Should we be worried about losing Herrera?

In my opinion no, the Spaniard has a desire to remain with the club and that, I believe, will be the overriding factor when it comes to his future.
