De Gea - Best in the World?

De Gea - Best in the World?

David de Gea is recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, after a nervy start with Manchester United, whereby he struggled with the physical side of the Premier League, his career has been on an upward spiral ever since.

Since joining Manchester United, the 26-year-old Spaniard has kept in excess of 100 clean-sheets but has always seemed to be behind the likes of Manuel Neuer and Gianluigi Buffon as the best goalkeeper in the world.

But, Matteo Darmian, who has played alongside both Buffon and De Gea, has his views on who is the best in the world.

Talking to the official club-site and as covered by Manchester Evening News, Darmian has had this to say,

'I know David very well and I think, at this moment, he is the best goalkeeper in the world.

'He is very important for us and I think that save at Stoke from Jese Rodriguez was incredible.

'I think Gianluigi is the best goalkeeper of all time. He`s also a good guy. So I am lucky to play with two goalkeepers like this.

'Of course, it`s close between the two. I don`t know. I think David is the best goalkeeper in the world and Gianluigi is the best goalkeeper of all time.

'I think they are similar because they are very strong and they make very good saves. They also have good personalities.'

Is Matteo right?

Is David de Gea now the best goalkeeper in the world?
