Rooney Cleared For England

Rooney Cleared For England

Wayne Rooney is available for England's friendly against Spain on Wednesday as hte injury he picked up against Spurs has been revealed to be minor. Edwin van der Sar is out of the Dutch squad with a broken nose.

Rooney limped off in the second half of our Sunday game against Spurs and was doubtful for England but Steve McClaren can be relieved.

Marco van Basten is not so lucky: he may aim to inject young blood into the Dutch national team but he still relies heavily on the experience of van der Sar. The United keeper is not available against Russia due to a broken nose that's yet to be assessed.

'Edwin needs a scan,' Carlos Queiroz declared. 'We must wait and see what kind of fracture he has.'

We might hope he will not miss more than a couple of days and it's our good fortune that the next game will be Charlton's visit and we might survive that with Kuszczak in goal...
