EFL 3rd Round - United v Burton - Stat Attack

EFL 3rd Round - United v Burton - Stat Attack

Ahead of what could prove to be a fascinating EFL 3rd round tie, at Old Trafford tonight, we`ve taken the opportunity to take a look in the form and record books to come up with some interesting statistics.

• In recent years, Manchester United`s record in the League Cup against teams from lower leagues, at Old Trafford, is nothing to boast about. The last 3 fixtures we`ve played have seen Manchester United exit the competition on 2 occasions, the most recent being the loss, on penalties, to Middlesbrough back in October 2015.

• In 8 of the last 9 seasons, Manchester United have reached the fourth round, the only exception being back in the 2014 / 2015 season when Manchester United were humbled 4-0 by the MK Dons.

• Burton Albion have reached the third-round for just the third time in their history. On the two previous occasions they`ve lost to sides in the Championship and League Two.

• This will be the fourth time that Burton Albion have faced Premier League opposition in the League Cup, on the previous three occasions they`ve been knocked out twice but did manage to beat Queens Park Rangers back in the 2014 / 2015 season.
