United v FC Basel - Early Team News

With Old Trafford set to, once again, host Champions League football this evening, after an absence of two years, we have some early team-news from the Manchester United camp.

Starting with between the posts, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that David de Gea and not Sergio Romero will start.

Definitely out, through suspension are Phil Jones and Eric Bailly meaning that Jose Mourinho will turn to Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof at the heart of the Manchester United defence.

Rated as doubtful for the tie is Marouane Fellaini with a calf injury. At his pre-match press conference Mourinho had nothing but kind words for his midfielder, remarking,

'I need him.

'He's a very important player for me, much more important than you can imagine. I feel weaker without him.'

Here`s hoping Fellaini shrugs off his calf injury then.
