Jones Confident of United Future

Jones Confident of United Future

The confirmation that the Swedish international centre-back Victor Lindelof has signed a deal with Manchester United has, once again, opened up concerns about the Old Trafford future of Phil Jones.

With Jose Mourinho surely set to opt for a centre-back pairing of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, Jones` place in the squad could, like that of Chris Smalling, be at risk.

However, Phil doesn`t believe his Old Trafford future is at risk.

Talking to the media, and reproduced in the sports pages of The Sun, are some comments attributed to the 25-year-old, comments that read,

"I have spoken to the manager. It was a normal conversation - he is a good man-manager.

"But we are Manchester United and we are going to attract the big and the best players.

"It`d be a strange summer if we weren`t. Competition is always good and I am looking forward to pre-season."

Could the fact that Jones is a versatile player able to play at centre-back, full-back and in midfield (if required) be his saving grace?

Your thoughts on the future of Phil Jones would be greatly appreciated in the comments facility beneath this article.
