United 1 Rostov 0 - Post-Match Fascinating Facts

Following the successful conclusion of our last-16 Europa League tie against FC Rostov, we took the opportunity to delve into the history and form books to come up with a few interesting facts.

• Jose Mourinho is on quite a successful run when it comes to home games in European competition. His last 8 fixtures has all resulted in wins, 3 whilst he was at Chelsea and 5 since he`s joined Manchester United.

• In those aforementioned 8 home games, Mourinho`s sides have scored 21 goals and conceded just 2.

• In fact Jose hasn`t been on the losing side in a home European game since a loss to Atletico Madrid back in April 2014, a run of 12 games that has seen 12 victories and 2 defeats.

• When it comes to European fixtures, at Old Trafford, Manchester United are on quite a run, it is 16 games since they last lost, a defeat to Real Madrid in March 2013, those 16 games have brought about 13 wins and 3 draws.

• Russian sides don`t seem to have much success when it comes to facing English teams in European competition. Since the start of the 2015 / 2016 season there have been 8 meetings between English and Russian clubs, with the English sides winning 5 and drawing 3.

• Juan Mata came to Manchester United`s rescue last night with the winning goal, it was the Spaniards 10th goal of the season equalling his tally in each of the last two seasons.

• When it comes to assists in European competition, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has produced a total of 17 since August 2011, only Cristiano Ronaldo, with 22, can better that.
