Bale To Join United

The Mirror reports United have agreed an 8 million fee with Southampton for teenage full-back Gareth Bale.

The Reds are believed to be chasing the Welsh international for a while but has been frustrated in their attempts to sign him. However, it seems they upped their bid and finally persuaded Southampton to sell their prize asset.

It's believed he will join United at the end of the season and will be loaned out to Soton immediately. All in all, it makes much more sense than sign him now when he should face vast competition for a place on the left.

As far as a I know, his attacking instincts and pace mean he's able to play on the left side of the midfield, too, and that would be useful as Ryan Giggs gets older and there are few classy wingers available. He could be an emergency solution for that position, too.

Of course, it's all pure speculation, you shold decide whether you believe the Mirror or not.

Midfielder, winger and striker will all be needed in the summer because of the age of Scholes, Giggs and Solskjaer. Bale would not be bad but he's really only an emergency solution on the left midfield. And of course we would sell Silvestre or (sadly) Heinze if he came.
