Becks Going To Hollywood
Former United superstar David Beckham will move to Los Angeles Galaxy on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Spice Boy's last months at Real Madrid were as close to a nightmare as they could possibly be. He was rarely involved in first team action and when he was selected by Fabio Capello the team almost always lost. Of course, Becks' attitude was always perfect, it's just that his displays were far below the expectations.
His decision will surely strike many people as a surprise but he was lured by American clubs for a while, and though Inter were interested, it was difficult to see why would he start another European adventure that would have always been likely to end in frustration again.
So David refused Real's contract offer to sign for LA Galaxy and that's quite a sensible move I would say.
'This week Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract for a further two seasons,' said Beckham.
'After discussing several options with my family and my advisors to either stay here in Madrid or join other major British and European teams I have decided to join LA Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year.
'I would like to thank supporters and the people of Madrid who have made my family and I so welcome in my time here making this an extremely difficult decision to make.
'I have enjoyed my time here enormously and I am extremely grateful to the club for giving me an opportunity to play for such a great team and their amazing fans.'
That just about means we're never to see Becks in European football after May 2007. All our best wishes to one of our legends - I think he deserves that title.
