Crazy Rumours About Xavi

Bayern Munich have once again stated they would not sell Owen Hargreaves in the January transfer window and their refusal to negotiate led to pretty interesting speculation about Xavi Hernandez of Barcelona.

The Catalan midfielder is Barcelona through and through but he's finding life difficult after his lengthy injury last season. He hasn't really found his best form yet and there are suggestions he will be offloaded by Barcelona and United are winning the race for his signature.

Now I must admit I did not even look up any kind of price mentioned as I believe this is total rubbish. A firm fans' favourite would be sold to England, just because he's not playing magnificently at the moment? He's not playing badly, his performances are quite good - it's just everyone knows more can be expected of him.

Of course, I'd be happy if we got him. But I think this story has as much credibility as the 'Deco to Arsenal' rumours have. If anyone of these signings indeed happen, I'll eat my words in public, I promise. But at the moment I'm left to wonder how far tabloids would go to knock up sensational transfer rumours.

Rummenigge, Beckenbauer and Hoeness usually contradict each other in the Hargreaves case. The latter gentleman is the major source of our problems on that front I believe.

What I forgot to add is that Barcelona have denied these rumours, saying they would never consider selling Xavi. Big surprise...

Zae, out of interest! do you know how old xavi is? Cheers

He'll be 27 on 25 January. Perfect age for a midfielder I would say.

Forget them all, we need Paul Ince!!

Agree with the article. I'd be extremely surprised 1) if Barca would sell Xavi for any fee 2) if Xavi would move from Barca to United.
