United Want Mavuba

Rio Mavuba's agent has confirmed Bordeuax had been contacted by Manchester United who expressed an interest in Mavuba.

The Bordeuax midfielder is one of the hottest prospects in French football and he told the media some months before that he would love to play for United. His agent, however, said Mavuba would not leave Bordeaux in January as the club aims to secure Champions League qualificiation again.

'It is true that the player is followed very closely by clubs in England, but also in Italy,' Vincenzo Morabito revealed.

'The situation will depend on a lot of details.

'Bordeaux are an ambitious club that are attempting to qualify for a second consecutive UEFA Champions League, so it may be easier for Rio to leave in the summer.

'But if a club offer a big sum of money during the January transfer window, we will see if Bordeaux are interested in transferring him.

'I sincerely think that the summer transfer window will be more interesting for him.

'Manchester United and Juventus have asked for him.

If we are really interested in him, then we a lot better chance to secure his signature than Juventus who have the advantage of not being able to participate in European football the following season, as a result of their demotion to the Serie B for match-fixing and of their early exit from the Italian Cup. Still, I'm sure Hargreaves is our priority and should make every effort to land him.

Of course, every effort does not mean we should pay horrible amount of money.
