Gabriel Heinze could move from Manchester United in January as he has limited opportunities in the first team with the excellent form of Patrice Evra. The Argentinian left-back is wanted by Juventus who are currently in the Serie B.
Gaby has never regained his true best form after his injury and he'll find it difficult to get ahead of Evra in the pecking order. No wonder a host of clubs are interested in him, as his quality is still undoubtable. Now it was Italian giants Juventus who expressed their interest in Heinze.
'I know Gaby, I saw him playing in France for two years,' Juventus manager Didier Deschamps said in an interview with French radio station RMCInfo.
'At Manchester United he is used as a left full-back but I don't think it is his best position. I think he is more a central defender.
'Considering the number of left-sided defenders at Manchester United, if there is an opportunity and he is attracted, why not?
'He is a very good player of an international level. He is a leader, a winner.
'Gaby also has the advantage of having a European passport.'
Of course, I said I would be willing to let him go if we were able to secure Gareth Bale of Southampton. However, the young defender seems to be out of our reach, for his agent stressed his client would be happy to remain a Saint. That means for me we should not let Gaby go. As Deschamps rightly pointed out, he can operate as a central defender, too and there are two more players at United who can play on the left side of the defence and in the centre of it: O'Shea and Silvestre. The former is mainly used as a midfielder and the latter is not in the same league with Heinze in either position.
So my conclusion is: if we want to sell someone, sell Silvestre. Milan and Juventus will surely not sign him and our financial gain could be more modest than in the case of selling Heinze but the squad would be all the better for it.
