Carrick Not Afraid Of Hargreaves
Michael Carrick does not have a problem with Fergie's knack for rotating - in fact he's enjoying the competition.
Paul Scholes and Carrick were the prominent figures in United's midfield this season but John O'Shea and Darren Fletcher also got their opportunities. The possible arrival of Owen Hargreaves would mean there's an even greater fight for first-team slots but it's a challenge Carrick's not hiding from.
'While there is competition for places at United, there is no rivalry in any way,' Carrick said.
'We all get on well and the manager tends to change things around. That's fine, it keeps you on your toes and at your best. Even in training you have to be on top of your game.
'That's a good thing because when you come into a match you are always sharp and raring to go.'
It's a strictly personal opinion but I feel Carrick did a lot to justify his fee that pundits were blasting throughout the first two months of his career. The former Tottenham man is pleased with his displays but vowed to improve as the season's accelerating toward it's decisive phases.
'I have made quite a contribution in terms of games played and am happy with that. It has gone pretty well.
'We are in a good place in the table after the festive programme and that is encouraging.
'From a personal point of view, there is always more to come and I need to improve. I am working hard to do that.
