Brown Stays At United

Wes Brown is set to stay at Manchester United as he prefers to fight for his place rather than walking away.

I'm pretty sure Brown reads Vital United: I said yesterday I wouldn't like to see him leaving and today he declared he would stay at Old Trafford. OK, maybe he just rubbished the speculation but I prefer to believe he reads us so please don't wake me up with crude sentences about the harsh realities.

Back to Wes now, here's what he said about the matter.

'I'm a Manchester lad and Old Trafford is still the only place for me.

'My contract runs to 2008 and I would love to see out my career at United - I've no intention of going anywhere else.'

I gave my views on it yesterday and I stick to it: we need him for cover on the right. And if he's enjoying himself here...

'It's going great at the moment,' he said. 'Everyone's enjoying themselves and there's a cracking team spirit in the dressing room.'

So he's indeed enjoying himself. Why should he go?
