'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gill Predicts Few Recruits

The transfer window has opened on New Year's Day and of course Manchester United are linked with a staggering amount of players. Despite all the rumours surrounding the club's transfer intents, chief executive David Gill claims United will not splash the cash on a number of players though there's money available to strengthen if necessary.

'The money is there but traditionally we do most of our big spending in the summer and I think that will continue,' he told Manchester United Radio.

'Things may change; if there's an area in which we want to do something then we'll do it. But at the moment we don't plan to do a great deal.

'We've already brought in Henrik Larsson, while a number of the players who have been out on loan are also back at the club.

'I think we all know the area in which we want to strengthen. But I'm not going to comment on that.'

I don't think any of us expected a feverish activity in the transfer window so it's no surprise to hear Gill confirming it. However, we've been reassured that United are on the lookout for a midfielder, possibly Owen Hargreaves and I frimly believe addition to that are would be necessary if we are to win the title.

Your board will finance whatever deals alex wants to do if he believes the player will benefit your team, most likely hargreaves

yeah the sun reports today that we have bid 15 million

That's a bit inflated price for him but considering everything we had witnessed this case it actually sounds quite reasonable.
