Bruce Hails Scholes - The Best!

Bruce Hails Scholes - The Best!

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce took time out from City's problems to praise his former United team-mate Paul Scholes and wishes the midfielder was part of England's World Cup squad this summer.

Bruce: 'For me, Scholesy is as good as you will ever see. He is as good a midfielder as you will ever see in this country, that's for sure. The kid has got the lot.

'He has set standards for 11-12 years and it's a shame he is not going to the World Cup with England.

'People mention him alongside Beckham, Keane and Giggs. If you ask the majority of players who have been there, seen it and done it, they would all say Scholes is the best player.

'He hasn't got a weakness. He can do the lot. He can score a goal, is good in the air, tackles, competes, great vision, two good feet.

'He has made his decision to finish with England but it is a shame he is not going to Germany because he is a fantastic player.'
