'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Larsson Couldn't Resist United

Henrik Larsson admitted he simply could not turn down United's loan offer despite his intentions to see out the rest of his career in Sweden.

The former Barcelona and Celtic striker joins United on loan in January and a lot of people hailed his arrival as a potentially decisive factor in the title race. This is not the time to decide whether they're right because now we concentrate on Larsson himself who seems to be happy about signing for the Reds.

"When I heard about this loan deal I just thought it was a chance I could not say no to,' hew said.

"I did have opportunities to move to the Premiership when I was at Celtic but my family was settled in Glasgow, which is the reason I did not come down.

"But I am 35 now, I do not think this opportunity will come around another time. I wouldn`t get the chance to join such a big club again.

"I had to discuss the situation with my family but as soon as I had cleared it with them, there was no problem."

Larsson vowed to his best for the club during his three months. Sir Alex ruled out the chance of a longer deal but that does not discourage Henke.

"I am fully aware of how important this period is for the club.

"Manchester United are a great club, with a big history and a grea tradition. It feels really good to be here and hopefully I can help them.

"It is always difficult coming into a new club but everything has felt OK so far. It is quite an exciting prospect to be able to play with so many world-class players."

The striker is set to make his United debut against Aston Villa in the FA Cup on 7 January. He's ineligible for the game at St. James' Park on New Year's Day but six days later he might play at Old Trafford.
