'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hargreaves Pleading Permanently

Owen Hargreaves has not abandoned hopes of joining Manchester United in January. He'd be greeted with open arms but Bayern are stubborn as ever.

The Canadian-born midfielder had already invited United to make an attempt to sign him and now he's pleaded Bayern Munich to let him go.

'It's about the opportunity to possibly play in another league I haven't played in before, which is also the country I represent and where my family lives,' he said.

'If people don't understand that, I don't expect them to. It's not their life. It's mine. But I don't think anyone in the football world is in the same situation as mine.'

'Nobody at any club is going to wait for anyone forever,' Hargreaves added.

'I don't want to go into too great depth about it because it's not down to me. I received a lot of criticism for suggesting it would have been a great opportunity, but sometimes you need to say it. I don't feel bad about anything I said or did.

'Anybody who sees them play at the moment knows it's a very special team and they're in a great time.

'But it's not like I'm saying I want to go to AC Milan or Inter Milan because they're offering me more money.

'It's because it's England and because Britain is where my family is. My parents and my brothers are in Canada, but the whole of my dad's side of the family is in Bolton and my mum's side is in Rhyl.

'I think some people don't realise that. They think I'm half-German or something, but I'm not. I was brought up by a British family. It just happened to be in Canada.'

Oh and I though I'd mention AFP's interesting comment on the subject. The French news agency wrote that 'Bayern's refusal to allow Hargreaves to leave led Ferguson to instead buy Michael Carrick from Tottenham for 18.6 million pounds'.

I somehow thought Carrick joined United in July and whilst it's true we had made an offer for Hargreaves before the World Cup, United made fierce attempts to sign him after securing Carrick. Had Michael been an alternative for Hargreaves, United would have not tried everything to buy the Canadian-born midfielder after getting Carrick.

Sorry, but boo ******* hoo. No one is in his position? I tell you what, I've give my right arm to be in his position, rich, taletented and wanted at a club that pays him good money. After these latest quotes I'd be disgusted if I was Fergie. For Gods sake, he signed a new contract with them not long back, so it can't be that bad there. Players need to shut their mouths a bit more and show respect to the team who pays their wages AND more importantly, their fans. Rant over.

Look, don't forget the fact that when he had signed that contract everyone in England said he was useless. His World Cup showing confirmed his abilities and now an English club, one of the best wants him. It was unexpected for him but he wants to come here. He never said it's bad at Bayern, just that he'd prefer United if he had the choice.
