Mourinho Fires Pointless Warning

Chelsea are in an unprecedented territory now - they have to chase the leaders at the top of the table. Manchester United hold an eight-point lead that will be reduced to five if Chelsea defeat Newcastle on Wednesday.

I do not doubt they will do it and Jose Mourinho is confident, too about it. The Blues manager also tried to give some advice to Sir Alex, not that the Boss needs it.

'Ferguson must be happy now because we can say we dropped two points but if he thinks it's over he's in trouble because it's not,' Mourinho told BBC Sport.

I started to laugh when I first read these sentences. Sir Alex Ferguson had been involved in a fair amount of title races down the years and damn he knows much more about them than Mourinho. Why would he, with all his experience would think it's over after 17 games?

But our dear Jose did continue so let's pay attention.

'We are here for the fight and I enjoy the fight. It is better to be in front but let's chase them - we can do it.'

'On Wednesday - no disrespect to Newcastle - I think I will be here saying the points difference is five.'

'It is a difference but that is not much of a difference in a long Premiership.

'The first step is the five-point difference and after that we will enjoy it. We showed we are not afraid of them and we can beat them at Stamford Bridge.'

God, Jose, are you aware of the fact that match will be played in April? You can beat us, no doubt but it's far from sure and even your victory would not guarantee anything there. You're right - the first step is the five point lead. We should forget that game until April.

Seeing their diamond formation I daresay it's necessary to reassure Chelski players! Long may Ballack and Shevchenko play!
