No Offer For Bent

No Offer For Bent

United are thought to be ready to launch a £9 million bid for Charlton striker Darren Bent as early as January. The prolific forward has scored 7 Premiership goals this season and as the Addicks are struggling in the league, their most prized asset could be eager for a move soon.

Manchester United are believed to be keen on Bent but they face a real fight as Charlton have already indicated they are not willing to sell him.

'Darren signed a new, improved four-year deal in the summer and we have no intention of selling him,' chief executive Peter Varney told the South London Press.

'He's a key part of our side and of our hopes of staying up. There have been no enquiries from Manchester United or anyone else for that matter.'

I think he would be great for us but his arrival would mean the end of Smudger's United career for sure.

Yeah, I'd be happy to see him here. Good competition for Saha and Ole.

It would be very harsh to judge Saha on last night's performance. I hope he'll deliver against Chelsea. Still, we need another striker as Smith appears to heading for the exit door, Ole is 33 while Rossi is still not ready.

Yeah Bent would be a good signing for you. I'm not sure it's a great move for Bent though. He's young and wants to be playing regularly, not in a squad rotation at United.

Yeah, he's a lot cheaper and he wouldn't expect to be in the first team at once.
