The great Di Maria Price Haggle!

The great Di Maria Price Haggle!

It would appear that Angel Di Maria will become a Manchester United player.

Having said goodbye to his former Real Madrid team-mates the Argentine winger is expected to sign for United once a fee has finally been agreed with the Spanish club.

The latest inference, from Sky Sports, is that United have agreed a British record fee of £63.9 million for the 26yer-old player although other sources are quoting a higher price with the Daily Mirror championing the suggestion that Di Maria will cost United £60 million plus another £12 million in add-ons.

Quite when we`ll see Di Maria put pen-to-paper on a contract or be paraded in front of the press or make his Manchester United debut remains to be seen.

I couldn't care too much about the fee, we've been sitting on this money for years and if it wasn't spent the Glazers would've siphoned it off. It will be interesting to see whether a lack of Champions League football has awoken the financial giant that we are or whether this is just a particularly loud snore in a 10 year slumber. Hopefully Di Maria is the first of many proven, world class players to join the club.
