Defender Handed United Debut

Local lad steps into the breach!

With Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand no longer on the books of Manchester United, our defensive problems were worsened with the news that Jonny Evans wasn`t available for selection for the opening fixture against Swansea City.

However, never afraid to trust in youth, Louis van Gaal has given 20 year-old Tyler Blackett the chance to impress.

Tyler is a local lad who spent last season out on loan at Birmingham and Blackpool, however his attributes have seen him achieve international recognition at U19 level.

Commenting on giving the player his full United debut, van Gaal has remarked,

"My philosophy is that in that position you need a left-footed centre-back - maybe that is news today"

Here at Vital Manchester United we wish Tyler all the best and hope he enjoys his full debut for Manchester United.
