Vermaelen - How Much?

Simply staggering (if true)!

This, if true, is starting to resemble a runaway train!

After it was reported that Barcelona were also interested in luring Thomas Vermaelen away from Arsenal, we always knew that there was the likelihood that the price for the Belgian international might start to climb.

Well that appears to be the case with one media source we stumbled upon intimating that to stave off the advances of the Catalan giants whilst also placating Arsenal, Manchester United are now looking to offer a massive 15 million for the centre-back!

Which leads me to ponder who believes that Vermaelen, not always a first choice for a wonky Arsenal defence, is worth such a fee?

It would be insanity to get him for 15 mil. It's bad enough we're spending 10 mil on him all things considered. Think it's going to end up a done deal before too long now though, not a bad deal just not a great one either.

As I've said before Wenger/Barca are welcome to him. I'd rather let the youngsters come through.
