A Rival for Mats Hummels?

Although it would appear we`ve been chasing the Borussia Dortmund defender, Mats Hummels, all season, could we be about to lose out to the defender to another Premier League club?

This morning, in the Sunday tabloid press, rumours are rife that the German World Cup winner is also wanted by Arsenal with Arsene Wenger being asked to be kept informed of any developments.

Although Borussia Dortmund insists the player is going nowhere its thought that a bid, in the region, of 20 million could set the ball rolling.

Another contributing factor that could see Manchester United lose out on the player is that Arsenal would be able to offer that old chestnut called Champions League football!

Considering Arsenal had arguably the best defence in the league after Chelsea last season I imagine the last thing they're after is another first team centreback. Not that it matters either way because it's highly unlikely Hummels will be moving anywhere this season.

Well if there is even a slight chance of getting Hummels in we should be throwing offers at Dortmund because as things stand our centre backs for next season are mediocre at best, and mediocre doesn't get you into the champions league that often. If its a definite no go well go and get someone else who isn't Arsenals 3rd or 4th choice centre back.
