Three Months?

There are a couple of little quips, attributed to Louis van Gaal that I`d like to pick up on this morning.

Our new Dutch boss, as the 2014 / 2015 season approaches, has described the team he inherited as broken, something we covered yesterday.

However, this morning, I read that to get United back to where we were and where Louis van Gaal wants us to be could take three months.

During this time Van Gaal has hinted that Manchester united may struggle.

Moving on, Van Gaal then goes on to mention that it would be all the more special if United can beat our neighbours, Manchester City, to the title this coming season.

Which, begs me to ask, is the gaffer serious?

I`d suggest that if we struggle for the first three months by the time United get into the swing of things the pack at the top of the Premier League will be long gone, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal (until the February slump comes) will be too far clear for us to catch even if we produce one of those traditional Sir Alex Ferguson finishes to a season.

Put simply Louis, we don`t have three months to dilly-dally around!

Wouldn't worry to much I think lvg is just making an attempt to temper expectation. Take some pressure off the squad some people are expecting miracles. When let's face it we've got a new manager and lost some quality players anybody brought in to replace them won't have had a preseason the team will need to bed in. We may not be up to speed for a few months but we'll not be that far behind.

Bear in mind this is a Louis Van Gaal, his definition of struggling is not winning every game in front of him. I'm personally not bothered about the title this season, just re-establishing us as a top four side will do for now.
