United Have a Rival for Vermaelen`s Signature!

Scouting through the previous articles on the subject of Thomas Vermaelen and a possible move to Old Trafford, it`s fair to say that opinion is somewhat divided.

The current Arsenal player, a Belgian international, doesn`t appear to be held in the same high esteem as either of the two players he could be replacing in the Manchester United defence, Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic.

However, it appears that the 28 year-old does have his admirers with it now being inferred that the might Barcelona are considering making a move to take the centre back to the Nou Camp.

Does anyone else reckon we should let them have him?

"Does anyone else reckon we should let them have him?" - Depends on whether we'll get someone just as good if not better for a good price or not.

Kind of off-topic but I don't know what to make of Barcas transfer activity this Summer. Ter Stegen is a good signing, he has the potential to rival De Gea and Courtois as one of the best keepers in the world in the future. Rakitic is also a good signing considering he'll be replacing Fabregas for a half of the cost. Claudio Bravo has proven La Liga experience but 12 million Euros seems steep for what you would expect to be a back-up keeper. Suarez wasn't a necessity and more of a luxury buy whilst Matthieu is distinctly average and was overpriced. Think that's quite a mixed bag there personally.
