It`s All Over for Van Gaal and Holland!

Although, I`d guess, Holland had the support of the majority of the Manchester United support last night, as our new manager attempted to guide the Dutch to the 2014 World Cup Final, it wasn`t to be.

On a disappointing night the Dutch crashed out of the tournament losing 4-2 on penalties to Argentina after the game (including the 30 minute extra time period) had ended 0-0.

This time around there was no tactical change of keepers for the penalty shoot-out and Louis Van Gaal could only watch on, in despair, as the hopes of a nation ended in the cruelest of fashions.

There was also disappointment for our Dutch striker, Robin Van Persie. Declared as doubtful, with a stomach injury before the game, the Dutch striker did make the starting eleven but like his partner in crime, Arjen Robben, he was rarely given the opportunity to open up an Argentine back four protected by their midfield.

The defeat, although disappointing, will now see Louis van Gaal join up with the Manchester United squad, as they prepare to embark on their pre-season tour of the USA, some would say the World Cup was a doddle compared to what lies ahead!

Looks like you lot are in for a season of defensive boredom, five at the back and hope for a free kick corner to nick a goal matches. And no chance of penalties to fluke a result in. Tactical genius my rusty sheriff's badge!!

I personally think that's unfair criticism Slurms and smacks of bitterness because Spurs didn't get Louis.

Louis Holland scored more goals than any other side during the group stages with 10 goals. They faced a Mexico who were solid at the back and kept even the hosts out having only conceded one goal up until that match yet Louis tactical change ended up with Holland putting two past 'em. Then he had the joys of facing a Costa Rica side who parked the bus for 90 minutes and had only conceded one goal from open play after finishing top of a tough group and again it was his tactical change that lead to Holland overcoming them. The fact that the Dutch media didn't expect Holland to get out of the group let alone all the way to the semis with the largely poor squad they have is a testament to how well Van Gaal has done.
