United in for Victor Valdes!

United in for Victor Valdes!

Well that is what the gossip-mongers are suggesting.

Although, courtesy of a consistent run of performances, there are no doubts that David de Gea is Manchester United`s first choice keeper, the transfer gossip columns continue to link us with the acquisition of another keeper.

It would appear that Louis van Gaal is very keen to bring in some decent competition for De Gea and that the keeper identified as being just the man for that job is the legendary Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes.

Valdes is a free agent and although the inference was there that the former Spanish international would sign for AS Monaco, it appears the deal has fallen through after Valdes failed a medical at the French outfit.

However, having worked with Valdes when he was at Barcelona, it is being reported that Van Gaal is keen to pursue a deal.

As for a possible rival for his services, the inference is that Arsene Wenger would also like to sign Valdes as competition for his Polish keeper, Wojceich Szczesny.

A piece of gossip that could have some mileage we suspect!

Urgh no, he's probably the most overrated keeper in football, De Gea is superior in all aspects except experience. Chasing the £££ and trading in Barca for Monaco has come back to bite him in the arse and now he'll never have it so good ever again.
