World Cup Duo in United`s Plans!

World Cup Duo in United`s Plans!

Transfer speculation, in the press, continues to champion the destination of Old Trafford for certain individuals.

This morning the reference speculation covers the possible acquisition of two players who have already, previously this summer, seen their names mentioned with a move to Manchester United.

The first is the Borussia Dortmund centre-back Matt Hummels. Several news sources are suggesting that United are keen to instigate proceedings that would see the 25 year-old sign for United in a deal said to include a reputed transfer fee of £20 million.

The second would see Manchester united kick-start proceedings with regards to bringing the exciting 22 year-old Feyenoord and Dutch international centre back Stefan de Vrij to Old Trafford.

If both deals come to fruition could our back four, next season, quite possibly be:- Rafael - De Vrij - Hummels - Shaw?

Stranger things have happened!

Mats Hummels for 20 mil would be a steal but it won't happen, I cannot see Dortmund letting him leave. I think we'll end up with one of De Vrij or Indi, I think the fee being associated with Mangala will essentially rule out any move for him. Afer such a promising start to the Summer i'd be thoroughly disappointed if we ended up with Vermaelen.

"Afer such a promising start to the Summer i'd be thoroughly disappointed if we ended up with Vermaelen." 100% spot on Famous. If we were to really go after Hummels we would need to start the bidding around the 30 million mark. Its a pity because our current centre backs are not good enough to be challenging for titles whereas Hummels is a solid top quality centre back who has proven this at the highest level. I do think that De Virj could become a top quality centre back but it would be too much to ask him to mature into one in a shoddy half arsed centre back pairing complete with a new centre midfield pairing in front of him and a new young left back as well. Vermaelen coming in is a complete ***** take. I was hoping the Glazernomics were over and done with for this Summer.
