The Flying Dutchmen!

Over in Brazil, the Dutch squad led by Louis van Gaal, are three games away from World Cup glory.

The astute Van Gaal could, if he has his way, be saying goodbye to the Dutch job by winning the World Cup.

Robin van Persie, captain of the Dutch team, has spoken to the media about that date with destiny, in Rio, on 13th July.

Van Persie speaking about what might lie ahead has remarked,

"I am almost getting goose-bumps when I say it, but I believe it is really possible to be a world champion."

"Every one of us feels that deep down. We still have three games to win this World Cup, but it would be the ultimate."


Indeed, for the Dutch, it would, but there is still a lot to be done and some dangerous teams out there that could wreck those dreams.

Obviously it's a possibility but I'm afraid the lack of quality in the Dutch squad will be their downfall. Their squad is very much in the same state as our has been in recent years. There's a couple of genuine World Class talents in Van Persie and Robben, there's a lot of potential and up and coming players in Depay, Indi, De Vrij, etc but the squad is filled out with what is mainly mediocre or thereabouts players whom the World Class manager, Van Gaal, gets the best out of. Even in spite of their efforts to play well above their level the mediocre players will inevitably be the Dutch's downfall as superior opposition will get the better of them.
