Is United`s Interest in Shaw Cooling?

Is United`s Interest in Shaw Cooling?

Almost since the January transfer window slammed shut there has been talk of Manchester United making a move for the teenage Southampton left-back, Luke Shaw.

Several times it has been hinted that a deal, said to be in the £27 million bracket has been all but done for the 19 year-old England international.

However, this morning, it`s now being suggested that Louis Van Gaal may well have identified an alternative target.

The gossip columns are linking us with a move for the Barcelona defender Jordi Alba, although, at the time of writing, details are very scarce.

We`ll endeavour to report further if / when further details become available.

Alba is a fantastic attacking wing back but too much of a liability defensively which will be exposed more in a side that doesn't play tika-taka in England than it does than a side that does play that style in Spain.

Southampton probably will sell and at this point in time are just stalling in the hope more clubs will become interested so they can start a bidding war. To be fair to them they'd be mad to sell just before a World Cup because a good World Cup campaign could potentially add 5-10 mil to the price tag. Apparently though us United fans can take solace in the fact that Shaw has supposedly told Southampton he wants to join us. In my eyes we'll be in for him until it proves to be that we can't get him and even then it's not that big a deal, both Sandro and Rodriguez look just as good candidates and could be available for less.
