Mata to Be Sold?

Is the Manchester United career of Juan Mata set to be a short one?

The reason I ask is that in the Sunday press, this morning, there is the inference that our record signing could be set to move on.

Apparently, in what is looking to be a major squad re-shuffle, Louis van Gaal is set to move the 26 year-old on by accepting a bid from the Catalan giants, Barcelona, who are preparing a bid said to be in the region of 40 million.

I`m not sure what to make of this one, I guess I`ll just sit back and wait and see.

Well I imagine after just signing him for 37.5 mil the club would expect more than 40 mil assuming they'll even entertain the offer. Van Gaal does like the 4-3-3 which doesn't really accomodate in-the-hole players like Rooney, Kagawa and Mata however, I can't see Van Gaal getting rid of the 3 of the clubs best players but rather adapting his system a bit to support a 4-2-3-1 the club has got the foundations in place to play. Ultimately the difference between a 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 is minimal, just instead of having a holding midfielder you have an attacking midfielder, the pivot remains the same but just has more of a defensive responsibility.

Nice to see transfer window madness is well underway then. Why in hell would we sell him he was one of our better players last season. Shouldn't a good manager be adaptable to say he's getting sold because he doesn't fit LVG's system is frankly worrying.

Not wrong there Motor. Fact is if he's determined to play a 4-3-3 there's going to be a lot of players playing in positions they're not used to or shipped out as a result. What this means for the likes of Rooney, Mata and Kagawa only time will tell.
