Going Dutch?

With a Dutchman set to be installed as the new manager of Manchester United, are we about to see an increase in the Dutch contingent of our playing staff?

Although Toni Kroos was considered to be our main midfield target this summer, the general feeling in the tabloid press is that a more likely signing is somebody we`ve previously been linked with, the Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman.

Strrootman, currently recuperating from a knee injury, opted to sign for AS Roma when he left Dutch football. However, it is being suggested that the 24 year-old would welcome linking up with his national coach and that a fee, said to be in the region of 30 million, could be enough to tempt Roma to part with a player dubbed the 'Dutch Roy Keane`.

We`ll endeavour to keep you posted if we hear any further news.

It didn't happen last season when he signed for Roma for 17 million Euros so it's highly unlikely a year later we'll sign him from a Roma who would be reluctant to sell at a price we would be reluctant to pay. I really do wish the media would stop throwing about the "the next..." tag, it just sounds and looks stupid. The last player to be dubbed the new Roy Keane was Javi Garcia which says it all about how much of a load of nonsense it is.
Why this talk about us getting Dutch players, there is nothing official about Van Gaal yet. I wouldnt be surprised if we got caught dicking around, and then another club i.e. Tottenham swoops in and signs him. Our boardroom is in shambles when it comes to getting players and now managers.. Whats the hold up, Van Gaal is available, plus he is one of the best managers around. Guardiola, Klopp and Ancelotti wont come, so what is the hold up. The sooner he signs for United, the sooner the useless woodpecker can start signing the players Van Gaal wants. Frustrating and the new season havent even started yet.
