Nani Deal Imminent

It`s been something we`ve been harking on about for several months, namely the impending departure of Nani.

Well it now seems that the erratic Portuguese winger is set to join Juventus in a deal said to be worth a 5 million transfer fee.

Having cost United 14 million when he was signed from Sporting Lisbon, back in 2007, any such deal represents a huge loss.

At the time of writing Nani had made 229 appearances for United scoring 41 goals, but his penchant for only occasionally delivering decent performances won`t see many a United supporter mourning his departure.

41 goals in 229 appearances summarises Nani quite nicely, for every 1 match where he was a game changer and world beater there was 4 matches where he was utter 5h1te and a complete passenger.

Coincedentally also, paying 14 mil and selling on for 5 mil is an example of how poor a judge of ability and potential Fergie got with age, the epitome of it being signing Berbatov for 30 mil and selling him for 3 mil. Not to mention he let the likes of Robben, Suarez and Bale get away from being frugal.

All selling Nani does for me is raise questions. Firstly, why didn't we sell him sooner when it became abudantly clear he just wasn't good enough? Secondly, why did we offer him a new contract, it's not like it's increased his value?

Hopefully one lesson learned from the Ferguson era is how to invest money wisely as opposed to on a whim *cough* Bebe *cough*.
He's leaving 3 seasons too late the useless show pony. I will never understand why we didn't sell him last year for 15 million.
In the same way I'll never understand why we didn't sell Berbatov during his golden boot winning season when it was abundantly clear he wouldn't really feature again after the champions league final snub. His stock was it it's highest but fergie preferred to keep him rotting on the bench and deprive the club of recouped 10 or so mil.
Finally we should have got rid last season if not before hand. His new contract was blatantly given to paper over the lack of transfer success last summer. Utterly pointless seeing as wasn't it about three matches he played all season? The sooner he's gone to infuriate some other poor team the better. Also to add on to your points Famous looking back on some of Fergie's decisions when buying/selling players makes you wonder what the hell was going through his mind because the good of the club certainly wasn't.
Who knows who's interest it served to be honest, it probably changes from transfer to transfer e.g. RVP served Fergies best interests, a retirement present to himself to get title number 20. Berbatov likewise was for himself, a delusion that he's the reincarnation of Cantona. Nani and Anderson for the Glazers probably, if they work out they can sell them on for a hefty profit. I just can't fathom what it was about nani and Anderson which made them more suitable gambles than Suarez, Robben or Bale whom Fergie has strict valuations on.
