United v Sunderland - Statastic!

As Ryan Giggs looks to continue his temporary reign with another win, this time against Sunderland, we`ve had a look at the history books and form to come up with a few statistics for you to consider.

This will be the fourth time our paths have crossed this season. On the three previous occasions, strangely enough, the results have all been 2-1 on each occasion.

With reference to Premier League fixtures, things look bleak for Sunderland tomorrow afternoon, with United never having been beaten and having won10 and drawn 2 of the previous 12 encounters.

Continuing the theme, Sunderland haven`t beaten United in the last 23 league fixtures, with United having won 18 and drawn 5.

Although it hasn`t been the best of seasons, United 's form has picked up lately with 3 wins from the last 4 matches and with United scoring 4 goals in each of those victories.

Sunderland arrive at Old Trafford looking to stave off the threat of relegation, their most recent form is good with 2 league wins on the bounce, a win against United would be the first time Sunderland have won three on the trot all season.

United will need to be wary of their visitors with Sunderland, despite their lowly position, have scored in all but 1 of their last 10 away games.

For Sunderland, Connor Wickham appears to be the player to watch. Wickham has just been named the Barclays Player of the Month for April having scored 5 goals in his last 3 appearances.

Sunderland probably feel Moyes sacking has come at the wrong time. No doubt they would've been feeling confident that the 'United never have been beaten having won 10 and drawn 2 of the previous 12 encounters' record could be broken.
Moyes or not it was another record broken. Needless to say I'm looking forward to the Summer clear out, too many spineless players relying on others to do the job rather than taking the initiative themselves. Unless it's Rooney, RVP, Januzaj, Kagawa or Mata doing something special we're clueless and blunt.
Most impressed with the way Sunderland have come out fighting in the latter stages of the season - Drew with us, beat Chelsea and now they did for you. Looks like they could stay up, and deservedly so
They've shown the attitude that Wigan was notorious for. Fair play to them in the face of adversity they've been valiant and brave. Thing is they do need to sort it out or risk coming up short much like Wigan. If this time next season their last games include City, Chelsea and ourselves again I can't see them banking 7 points like this time, for me the top sides have been massively unimpressive this season.
