'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Brace to Mull Over!

Going into the game, against Norwich, it had been intimated that Ryan Giggs would be looking for a fast start and for some of the attacking shackles to be thrown off.

Now whilst United didn`t get the early goal they were looking for, to take the pressure off, the fixture did see United, under the managerial tutorship of Ryan Giggs, notch up one interesting statistic.

Apparently, United had 11 shots on target which is the most they`ve had on target in any Premier League game this season.

In making his starting eleven selection, Giggs hinted that one of the most difficult decisions was to leave Juan Mata out and looking at the statistics after the game it is easy to see why.

The Spaniard, the clubs record signing, has now scored 5 goals in his last 4 Premier League games. Also, yesterday saw Mata net his first headed premier League goal whilst his 2 shots came from the 3 shots that he had.

Make of those statistics what you will!

He says it was hard but the reality is since signing Mata has played in every Premier League game for us. That's not an issue normally but seeing as whilst at Chelsea he didn't have a proper pre-season or any real competitive game time it was perhaps too much too soon, especially seeing as Dithering Dave had him running like a cross country runner. Since regaining match fitness and playing in-the-hole he's been class and rightfully due a break.
