Giggs Chases European Place!

This weekend sees the start of a new era at Old Trafford.

The 'Chosen One` banner, relating to David Moyes, has now gone and we go into our home fixture, against Norwich City, with the legend that is Ryan Giggs in temporary charge as those who run the club seek to bring in a replacement for the departed Moyes.

For Giggs it represents a marvellous opportunity to make an impact, in the four games he`ll be in charge, assisted by some others from the Class of 92 Giggs has a great opportunity to open his temporary reign with a win, with Norwich City struggling in the Premier League and looking like they are going to crash through the relegation trap-door.

Giggs, who was interrupted by a phone call from Sir Alex Ferguson whilst he conducted his first training session, has already signaled his intent by urging his squad to push for that much derided Europa League place and the respect his career has earned from everybody, at Old Trafford, should, we`re all hoping, provide the catalyst needed for an upgrade in performance.

He's press conference alone already has highlighted the difference between a Manchester United manager and the Moyes-esque mid-table manager. Giggs wants to claim Europa League football playing "with passion, speed, tempo, to be brave, with imagination" he doesn't just want a result he wants to see "goals, tackles, players taking players on and getting the crowd up". Moyes on the other hand played us down and simply wanted to make it hard for the opposition and to get a result, draw or win, at all costs. If Moyes had the same attitude and mentality he would probably still be in the job.
