'If It's Football, It's Vital'

"It`s Not Good Enough!"

The disappointment, in the United camp, would have been over-whelming following the exit from the Champions League quarter-final, at the hands of Bayern Munich.

The realization that we`ll not be participating in the Champions League at all, next season, is a cross we have to bear for an abysmal defence of our Premier League title this season, and a painful cross to bear.

Michael Carrick, in the aftermath of the Champions League exit, had a few thoughts on the matter, remarking to the media afterwards,

"It`s obviously not good enough."

"We have said that the last few weeks - this club should be in the Champions League."

"The reason we are not going to be in it next season isn`t so much because of tonight, it`s the league form."

"We go out and we are bitterly disappointed. We put ourselves in a great position getting the goal and its 20-odd seconds and that was a big blow."

Onwards and upwards was supposed to be my battle cry but now, like so many others, I`m just bemused by the whole situation, how about you?

Onwards and upwards from here you've got to imagine. It looks to have finally sunk in with a lot of players that they're playing for their careers. With the Summer coming hopefully the squad will get the freshening up and quality added which it needs.
