Rooney on Character

If things were bad this season, I think it`s fair to say we sunk to a new low with the 3-0 home defeat inflicted upon us by the arch-enemy, Liverpool.

But with a critical Champions League tie, against Olympiakos, this Wednesday evening, a tie in which we trail 2-0, Wayne Rooney has spoken about the character the squad possesses pulling us through with our best paid player remarking to the media,

"It`s difficult but we have to bounce back quickly."

"It`s difficult but we`ve been here before and this is where the character of the lads will have to shine through."

"The support the fans gave us was great. Under such circumstances, it was probably the best it`s ever been."

It was good and those who turn up week-in and week-out, deserve better.

Let`s hope the fare served up, on Wednesday evening, is of a better quality!

Character? lololol What character? From the manager down to the players there isn't any character let. If you lot couldn't get motivated for a game against Liverpool at Old Trafford how are we expected to believe that you lot play for the shirt and not just for your cheque's, granted having a tactical dinosaur in charge doesn't help the situation
"It`s difficult but we have to bounce back quickly." - That's been the story of our season, we're still waiting for this bounce back we keep hearing about. Maybe you should spend less time talking about it and simply expecting it to happen, which is what it looks like from the teams attitude on the pitch, and make it happen and do it.

"It`s difficult but we`ve been here before and this is where the character of the lads will have to shine through." - Yeah we were here after getting turned over by Liverpool, City, West Brom, Everton, Newcastle, Tottenham, Swanswea, Sunderland, Chelsea, Stoke, Olympiacos and then Liverpool again. We're probably going to be here again this time next week also.

Pretty sick of hearing this talk about character and 'never-say-die' spirit yet seeing something far from it on the pitch. Yeah the manager might be utter turd and slumped in his chair with a stupid look on his face but that's still no excuse for a team that "never use to lose but simply run out of time" to show no desire and passion and simply roll over and emulate him.
To be honest it's rich to hear Rooney calling the players character into question, even if it is to try and get a response from them. In the players eyes his probably one of the worst characters there always putting himself before the team and throwing a paddy if it's any other way.
Spot on lads I'd love to see this character we supposedly have in abundance. The only thing about us with character are the fans who haven't turned on the team yet and sing their hearts out in support. Regardless of the crap served up by this caricature of a football team.
