Smalling Injury Blow

As our season, by our high standards, looks set to end in failure, with Manchester United falling short of the qualification places for the Champions League next season, there`s more bad news on the injury front.

We`re reliably informed that Smalling picked up an injury in training, ahead of the fixture with Liverpool and that injury has been found to be a hamstring strain that will keep the versatile defender on the side-lines for at least a month.

With Jonny Evans also injured and with Nemanja Vidic starting a ban for the red-card he received against Liverpool, our options for the centre back role as we contemplate a trip to Upton Park this weekend, are beginning to look more limited by the minute.

The amount of injuries that we are getting in training is a bad sign.
Kanchelskis
Tis a blow indeed. I don't think there's much argument in the fact that since getting a regular run in the team he's been our best defender by a country mile. Would be nice when we talk about Jones and Smalling being the next Ferdinand-Vidic combo it didn't mean their injury proneness and traits included.

The training induced injuries have been a problem all season. If I didn't know better I'd have thought Moyes might have twigged upon this issue by now. I'll not hold my breath on him doing so.
MotorMad
Don't worry Motor Mad the cogs turn slowly in Moyes' head, he'll twig it in the Summer of 2015 one week after he notices the small Asian lad sitting in the dressing room who is actually a half decent player.
