'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Taken Out of the Firing Line?

It`s interesting to see that Tom Cleverley isn`t in the squad of eighteen named for the Premier League fixture against West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

In midweek, Cleverley was the attention of a petition demanding that he doesn`t form part of the England squad.

The petition, we believe, done in very poor taste attracted some 15,000 electronic signatures and was widely condemned by both ourselves and David Moyes.

With Moyes giving Tom a resounding vote of confidence we expected the England international midfielder to be part of the squad today.

Therefore, his absence could well be perceived as an action taken by Moyes to take Tom out of the firing line for the weekend.

Surely that should be unlucky West Brom? :S

Yeah Cleverley has been on teh recieving end of a lot of stick and whilst it's perhaps gone too far it certainly wasn't unwarranted. I personally don't think randomly including him out of anywhere has done him any favours this season. I think omitting him, letting him concentrate on his football away from the eyes of the football world and making him work for his place, rather than randomly dropping him in, would do him a world of good. At least when he plays he knows that he would've warranted the call-up to the first-team and will hopefully start making the most of it.
