Who Will Inherit the Captains Armband?

With Nemanja Vidic set to leave Old Trafford this summer, it`ll be interesting to see who inherits the captain`s armband on a permanent basis.

Newspaper reports, linked to Wayne Rooney`s contract talks, infer that Rooney could be the man. However, today, in the tabloid press there are doubts raised about his profile fitting the role.

David Moyes, talking to the press, has given very little away by remarking,

"It is up for grabs? A lot depends."

"There have been two or three captains here because of injuries to Nemanja with Patrice Evra, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand all being captain at some stage this season."

"We want people to show leadership qualities, not just on the pitch but off it too. It is a big thing to be captain of Manchester United."

"Vidic remains as captain until the end of the season. When he`s not playing it tends to be Pat, and when he`s not it tends to be Rio or Wayne."

"But what we need is for the person who tales over to understand what it means for the club, the responsibility it carries, and hat is required of you as well."

So, who do you think will be the captain of Manchester United next season?

I think it's pretty obvious who will be instated as captain, golden boy Rooney. For me though the way he's treated the club and continues to treat the club he should never be allowed it. I personally would like to see Fletcher given it if he can get some consistent gametime. If not him then any other player that bleeds United and plays for the crest on the shirt not the figures on their pay cheque.
