Shaw Staying Put?

If David Moyes has identified the Southampton left-back, Luke Shaw, as the long-term replacement for Patrice Evra, then it could take quite a fight to lure him away from the south-coast.

It has been widely reported that United are in direct competition with Chelsea for the teenage left-back and that United might have tabled a bid, said to be in the region of 22 million.

However, the Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has spoken to the media, ahead of the round of midweek Premier League games, remarking about the talented eighteen year-old,

"At this moment we have no interest in selling Luke Shaw - and not in the summer either."

"Southampton has many great players for the future. It is clear we believe in our players and want them - we have no intention of selling them."

"Luke is dealing with the attention very well. When he got here he was a kid, now he is a man."

"These things do not affect him at all. He hasn`t said anything to me that has changed the situation from when he said he wanted to stay. It is still the same."

So, it could be quite a struggle to get our man then!

Southampton have always said Shaw is not for sale, they now produce youngsters for themselves as they have very wealthy owners
Will Tanner
More surprised that the media thought we were after him. At the moment we need instant solutions or at least players with the potential to be world class but capable of competing at European Champions League level now. Then there's what Will Turner has already said and the fact that he very recently signed a 5 year contract. Shaw might be one for 3-4 years down the line but for now let him stay and Southampton and continue developing his game.
