Vidic Leaving!

A piece of news has broken, this morning, which would appear to suggest this will be Nemanja Vidic`s final season at Old Trafford.

Following the 2-1 defeat at the Stadium of Light last night, news broke, via his agent - Silvano Martina, that it was looking as if the Serbian defender would not be signing a new contract come the end of the season.

Discussing the matter, Martina is quoted as having remarked,

"At the moment I would rule out an extension with United."

Vidic has several teams looking at him. He is a very good player and will have no trouble finding a new club. At the moment we are remaining calm."

It`s being suggested, in the tabloid press, this morning that Italian clubs are leading the interest in the popular Serbian with Napoli and Fiorentina featuring prominently.

We`ll keep you abreast of any developments we receive.

Sounds to me like he fishing for a longer contract extension to be honest. He'll not want to be on the rolling one year deal when we gave Carrick a longer one.

The agent can try and play all the games he wants but Vidic is United through and through, epitomised through his 'captains goal' and celebration last night. I'd like to think and am pretty sure Vidic would never show the club the disrespect of refuting any approaches for contract talks after all the faith the fans have shown in him and everything the club has done for him. Whether they reach an agreement on a new deal though is another matter. Vidic is a class act in defence there's no denying it, however, during his prolonged absence we showed that there is life without him and he isn't quite as 'key' as he use to be. Not to mention we have every right to offer him a one-year rolling deal not just because of his age but recent injury record. The club understandably wants to keep him but at the same time not lumbered with him for another 2 years whereby he can't play because of injury.

Wow. Are you guys serious? He is still a very handy defender to have .. Im sure he will find plenty of suitors.

I know that Vidic is still class and could walk into most teams I'm not saying he couldn't walk away. But my belief is that this rumour is just a negotiating tactic by his agent to get Vidic a longer contract rather than the rolling one season we usually give players over 30.

Well, expect Rooney & possibly RVP to follow suit! Seems like darker & more devilish days ahead for yer, red devils ;)

I'm not convinced you'd miss Vidic all that much TBH - he's getting on a bit and hasn't looked the same player since he came back from his knee injury.
