United Lose Tour Opener

United Lose Tour Opener

Out in Bangkok, against a Singha All-Stars XI, United slipped to a 1-0 defeat.

After describing his excitement, pre-match, of his first game in charge, David Moyes will have been disappointed to get his reign as the new manager of Manchester United off to a defeat.

However, with several of his big names missing from the squad and with the sweltering conditions affecting those selected, we shouldn`t read too much into this defeat.

For the fixture, Moyes gave a first team debut to Adnan Jamuzai whilst the last signing of the Sir Alex Ferguson reign, Wilfried Zaha also saw some action, albeit in the second half.

Jamuzai, in a first half where United looked apprehensive about extolling too much energy, much of the best work came from Jamuzai, with his direct running troubling the opposition.

The only goal of the game came after fifty minutes when Teeratep beat Amos after driving deep into the box.

The arrival of Zaha, around the hour mark, livened United up, almost equalizing but his shot, after good work from Danny Welbeck, hit the post.

United now travel to Australia to continue the tour in what should be a more hospitable climate.

Only preseason so no big deal. Got to look at the positives which are Zaha and Januzaj. They were both terrific. Granted a bit of perspective in the fact that it was a nothing side but all the same they outshone more established first team stars in the same game. Hopefully we'll get to see plenty of both in the coming season and we don't let another Pogba-esque talent slip through our fingers.
