Scholes To Lead The Charge

Sir Alex Ferguson is banking on Paul Scholes leading his side to glory in the Champions League.

Ferguson: 'There have been some terrific signs over the last couple of weeks. When you win, confidence does improve and there is no coincidence that we have seen it rise recently.

'But the goal Paul scored on Saturday may turn out to be the best thing that has happened throughout our four victories.

'When Paul is in the form he has been in for the last two or three games and then he starts scoring as well, we are a very good team.

'We received a buffeting after the Middlesbrough and Lille games, which was deserved because they were bad performances.

'But no-one enjoys criticism and some of the stuff aimed at the young players over the last few weeks has been unfair.

'There never seems to be a balance in terms of the representation of our club and that is another incentive to make sure we get the right result.'
