Vidic On His Return

This season has been a stop-start season for our club captain Nemanja Vidic.

The 31 year-old central defender has never really gotten back into the swing of things after picking up that cruciate knee ligament damage against Basle, back in December 2011.

However, Vidic is hoping that the good old days are finally around the corner with the Serbian remarking to the media,

"I have played twice in five days now and it has been good."

"After every game I am feeling better and that is a good sign."

"It`s difficult now we are playing Wednesday-Saturday-Wednesday and I have to think whether it is good for me or not."

"Sometimes I get a reaction, some swelling sometimes after matches."

"There was no pain; it was just a reaction as the knee got used to work again. It`s normal."

There`s no doubt we`ve missed his presence at the heart of the defence and his return, on a permanent basis, will serve us well as we close in on honours this season.

At least there's some progress that he is appearing again though rather than coming back just to be instantly ruled out for one injury or another like in season past. It's a massive relief really, i thought the injuries will just keep recurring and we would have to seriously consider not waiting for his return anymore, selling him and getting in someone to replace him. Whilst defensively as a unit we're one of the best in the league, Vidic would improve any defence in the world and its great to have him back. Hopefully his progress and come back from injury continues.
