Agent Claims United Talks With Striker

Robert Lewandowski has long since been linked with a move to Manchester United, it's been claimed that talks over a potential move have taken place?

The agent for the striker, Cezary Kucharski, has claimed he's talked to both United and Bayern Munich about a move: 'Yes, it is true; I have spoken to Bayern and Manchester United.'

Not a lot to go on, and what that actually means is open to interpretation. Bayern Munich have apparently distanced themselves from him though, leaving United a "free run" at him perhaps?

The Polish international will be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer and has already turned down an extended contract so with just a year (when the summer arrives) left on his existing deal an offer of around 10m would secure the 24-year-olds signature.

Despite United having senior strikers Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez as well as a few other younger fringe players it's believed that Sir Alex Ferguson remains keen on the Pole.

Would five mainline strikers be too many or would, if he arrived, Lewandowski be a replacement for someone?

I imagine there's some serious interest on our part however whether the striker quartet we've currently got unless Welbeck converts to a left winger and/or Rooney drops deep into midfield, the latter being more likely than the former but even then it's still unlikely, we really don't need him and I doubt we'll be following up our interest with a bid.
