Former Defender Going American

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre looks set to pitch up in America.

Silvestre left United to sign for Arsenal a few years back and had since moved onto Werder Bremen but after a year without making a first-team appearance, and leaving the German outfit in the summer at the end of his deal many would have been forgiven for thinking the Frenchman's career was over?

Silvestre has recently been training with United to build up his fitness with the veteran expected to now sign a two-year deal with Portland Timbers in the MLS, so his career isn't over yet!

Can't believe he's still playing! How old must he be now?

Silvestre never striked me as the sort of player who loved the game so much that he was going to continue playing deep into his thirties, which he surely must be now. Fair play to him and the best of luck to him also.
