'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Another Jones Setback

Victory, and a place in the quarter finals of the FA Cup, was good news for Manchester United on Monday. The price of this was an injury setback for Phil Jones.

Jones, who has been troubled by injuries of late, looked like he was fit and back to his very best but was forced off before the break in the win over Reading.

The ankle injury is one that Sir Alex Ferguson expects to keep the England international out of the weekend game, he said: 'We'll have to assess it in the morning. It's an ankle injury obviously so I'd imagine he'll not be ready for Saturday anyway.

'But we'll see what he's like after that.'

Fingers will be kept crossed that this latest injury isn't too bad.

No disrespect to QPR but most would take him missing that one if he could be fit to return to face Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League next week as he did such a good job with Cristiano Ronaldo in the first leg.

Thought Jones made a rather cynical attempt to take out the Reading player when he injured himself, so it's a case of karmaisabitch if you ask me.

Shame really as I think his found his best role as a holding mid who shackles the opponents biggest threat and started to look like the player we spent a fortune on. Best bit is he's still got plenty of time to develop other aspects of his game to be more than just a holding mid. Hopefully the injury isn't too serious as if he isn't on the pitch against Madrid Ronaldo will run riot.

Hope it's nothing too bad he has made the midfield holding role his own with recent performances
